Well, I've just come back from a lovely two week holiday with my family and today we had to get back to the routine of early mornings as my husband leaves for work at 7am!
In the spring and summer time I love to get up early and go walking in the woods with my dog before he leaves. It seemed particularly hard to drag myself out of bed when the alarm went off at 5.45 am this morning, but I'm so very glad I did! On my hour long ramble, Sam, (my gorgeous collie dog) and I were rewarded by encounters with two Roe deer, eight Fallow deer, (yes 8!), a Muntjac deer and finally a glorious buzzard launching itself majestically from a tree very close to us!
What possible greater reward could there be on an early summers morning than sharing a few precious and very private encounters with our own, oh so beautiful British wildlife? Definitely worth getting out of bed for!
This photo of a Roe buck was taken by me in my local woods earlier this Spring. As you can see, his antlers are still in velvet!
